This one is done with applique. It was easier than sewing all those little blocks together. I tried 3 different patterns and this was the one I settled on. I modified it just a little by adding the squares on the seams meeting

I did raw edge machine applique. You cut out the melon shapes and stitch them like the pattern said. I used a 4 patch to make it look more like the traditional one
