My grandmother started a quilt before I got married in 1991 - she finished it in 1995 and gave it to me. It is hand quilted.

I don't know if its the age and washing or what but the material is cotton but feels very thin - it may just be that I've been sewing with new cotton fabrics today and so my fingers are sensitive to the touch based on what I have been doing.

I didn't open it all the way up - there are 6 rows - only 2 are shown here. It is all hand pieced and hand quilted. The back is plain - not scratchy muslin but a soft material that is the same color as muslin.

I had it on my bed for years - there are a few spots that need repair - except for the fact it doesn't match my room right now I would put it back on the bed....I had said in an earlier post it is queen size but I don't think that is right - when I put it on my queen bed it hands off each side to the dust ruffle.

That's a very nice quilt and a great quilt to treasure from your grandmother. I think because of the autumn colours, every time it needs a patch, I would applique a maple leaf.
