Default Mystery, maybe not solved, but Resolved

Started this quilt as a mystery project last January and was not happy with the result. The mystery included another completely different block and I didn't like the way they weren't working together. This block works much better as a stand alone. The other I'll post when I get it quilted, maybe in a month or so.

This one worked out to a nice throw size 60 X 60. Got more practice with my FMQ and am pleased with the results. Anyone know if this block has a name?

Isn't this "The road to california"? I watched Eleanor Burnes today and she was doing somethign similar and she called it that.
