This is going to be a gift for one of DH's friends. He has a tattoo of the fish- or something similar. I simplified it a bit.

I drew the center out, but somehow cacked things up a bit somewhere along the line. I figured I needed 100 squares for the center square spiral, but I only used 90. (It doesn't HAVE to be square, but that's how I had planned it.) So I will leave it up on the design wall a bit and kind of mull it over.

I figured I would throw it out here for you guys to mull over, too. Any suggestions?

The fish are way huge- I will trim them down and border them with the black and white fabric shown on the sides. The fqs in the corners will be pieced into some sort of a setting block, probably a wonky log cabin.

I have been working on this a while and he is getting anxious for it. He mentioned keeping it in his fishing boat, but I will put the kibosh to that plan when I give it to him. LOL! (He better take good care of it!)

Do you still have some squares left over in the central block because your spiral isn't complete? To finish it, you need another row across the bottom. Otherwise, love the fish and general idea.

love the quilt and the design! The row on the left hand side isn't attached yet, may be why you still have some squares left.

Like the materials for the corners also

Ok, I tried to show the white lines better. I drew on this with paint and showed the edge of the squares that doesn't show up because it's white on a white design wall. (There is a white line all the way around.) I think what I will have to do is cut some small colored squares for those sides that end up being half the size of the original square. So it will be 10x 11, but on the side with 11 the two outside rows will only be half the size. I don't think I have enough fabric left, though. So I don't know if that will work.

aha - the missing 10 squares. lol
(I wondered if the blank bottom row was intentional or not?)

Cool quilt design.

Ok, I figured it out and took new pictures. I rearranged it and got it to be 10 x 10. (The squares that people thought were missing were there, but you couldn't see them.)

I think the problem is that the white is on the outside on some of the squares, so I hung some black around two sides so I could see it better. I think this is what I will do.
