I guess you could say this was quilting related as the flags can all be reproduced in cotton for a quilt which will be probably done for another present. I made the flags 12" X 15" and pendants 8" X 24" out of ripstock nylon. My son is going to attack graments on the headings. They were fun to make but took a lot longer than I had anticipated and I am glad they are finially ready to package up and give to him

Okay, I get it now. They are in order, so you could spell out something with them? Very cool! I would guess abbreviations would be good!

They also have other meanings to send messages to other boats on the ocean. If you google nautical flags you will see all kinds of interesting information about using them.
