Thank you all for the compliments. I am packing to return to CT, but I'll post some pictures showing how to make the blocks soon. They are really quite easy - there's a simple trick. You start with a diamond, add other colors on the sides, finish with wedges to make a block. Then you slice the block, rearrange the slices and sew them back together. A lot faster than weaving a rug!
