The pattern came from a "Crafts 'n Things" May 2006, pg. 29

But I changed it a little (always do!)

Directions:
1. Cut 7 1/2" from large end and 8 1/2" from narrow end.
2. Trim the tie's inner facing and turn down the raw edges and stitch
3. Fold under the upper portion of wide tie's raw edges and stitch
4. Narrow portion is the arms, fold under each raw edge and make a circle and stitch the upper corners together then insert it over the lower tie portion
5. Cut 3" circle, hand stitch face, assemble fabric, batting, onto washer and slip stitch outer edge and draw up tight and secure
6. Hot glue head to the upper body of large portion of tie
7. Hot glue hair and halo, added a ring of ribbon at the neck
8. Take a Q-tip and blush and make mouth and cheeks
9. Put some kind of decoration around the hand area
10. Hot glue wings (I used Christmas ribbon made into a bow)
11. Hot glue angel hanger
12. That's it.

It's really simple once you get all the hand stitching done.
Be careful with the hot glue, burns fingers.

What a cute idea, although with some of my Dad's ties it would be an ugly idea! LOL

I have a box of old ties from my father-in-law that would make "cute" angels. Thanks!

My step dad died a few weeks ago now, and I have just recieved about 30 of his silk neck ties... My mom wants me to make 2 wall hangings using the ties, one for his son, and the other, a grandson.. I am not feeling so secure in sewing on the silk, but hope that these two memory hangings will bless Don's son, and grandson.. thanks for showing your angels, such a neat thought to use the ties for..
