This is a picture of the southwest style quilt I am working on. I will quilt it in sections but need advice on quilting it. Should I just quilt in the ditch or do something more complicated? The borders aren't on yet but they are of the print fabric with the blue pattern.

Half finished

Beautiful! What pattern did you use?
As for quilting it I'd SITD or do a pattern that was feathers or another southwest design in the blue centers. Just a thought.

I got the original idea from RobertKaufman.com but then reworked the pattern because it was only for a childs size. I also wanted to use strips and the pattern called for all little pieces. I never thought of feathers, what a good idea.

You are like me - find a pattern you like ----- and change it! My DH wants me to make him (us) a queen size quilt in Southwestern style, but use mostly tans, browns, red and only some blue. I like the pattern you have used but for DH would change the color scheme.

If you can't find the original pattern let me know and I will e-mail it to you.

It's very Southwest and eye-catching. Love your color choices!
