What do you think about this one? Since the inside is all quilted straight lines I thought maybe something with a smooth design might look good on the outside.
Tried this one (the circles) and didn't like it.

The print in the border is very busy so any quilting you do won't show very much at all on the front. It will show on the back. I would keep it very simple for that reason (why put a ton of effort hand quilting on something that won't show unless you are only a few inches away?)

I would do a very simple cable like this:

These are both cute and would probably go fairly quickly

Go through the border designs from Stencil company. You should find plenty of ideas but i would keep it a very simple motif.

Isn't it fun to see what everyone suggests? Here I was thinking something along this line to keep the 4 patch effect going out into the borders. http://quiltingstencils.com/picketfence45.aspx Whatever you choose will be lovely.

Thanks for all the great ideas! I may have to order some new stencils from Quilting Stencils. Can never have enough. I experimented and stitched a few clam shells and think I'll go with that. It seems to soften the harder edges in the middle of the quilt.

I don't have any new suggestions. But the quilt is lovely and so is your quilting.

I also vote for simple feathers in the border. Beautiful quilt and hand quilting!
