So along with all the URR fabrics I got yesterday, I ALSO bought two other sets to do things with.

This one is going to be placemats for my mother that will be a Christmas gift. Not sure what pattern yet, tho!!! Any striking ideas? I asked my Mom what colors or theme her dining room was, and she said there was NO theme, or not even a color scheme.... Just an area rug under her table that is black, green, beige with a bit of floral.... so this is what I got:

And here are a collection of Harvest/Fall fabrics that I'd love to make myself some placemats and a runner out of!!! Again, no pattern in mind... something with big enough pieces to show off the fabrics.

All of it's really nice. And your mom will like placemats!!

I just use a pattern of my own that I cut from newspaper -- about 15" x 19". Sandwich top and bottom and start quilting. Bind when finished. They look really nice and not hard to do.

But a cheater way to do placemats -- buy pre-quilted fabric and serge around the edges. And you're done in about 5 minutes!!

The harvest fabric would make this table runner. was a bit difficult but turned out great. Was in "Quilts a la Carte" , Leisure Arts book has lots of tablerunners, placemats, tablecloths. Great BOOK!
