A new finish - Scrabble Quilt for bestie
Hi friends
I have a finish I wish to share.
I started this project last May for my bestie after she declined the notion of a 'Discworld Quilt' - sadly, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in November. I've moved house to be closer to her - 5 doors away in fact. I continued making this quilt in secret and put the final stitches in last night after tucking a blanket around her as she fell asleep on her couch.
I'm hoping to hand this to her tomorrow night, at our regular Thursday night Scrabble game.
I had my personal doubts about this quilt all the way through, not liking how the lettering was working out (dropped and tangled stitches led to a service of my machine in December), not liking how puffy the initial quilting was working out - but loving it more and more - especially when I came up with the perfect saying for the label.
As they say - Finished is better than perfect - and this is not intended for a show - but for the lap of my very dear friend who is battling the cancer demons
Thanks for reading through this post so far... hope you like the pictures too!

What a wonderful, caring friend you are to Wendy. Be sure & take a box of tissues to give her as there will be tears of joy shed when she sees her new quilt. She is going to absolutely love it & love you even more for the dear friend that you are to her. Prayers to her for a full recovery.
