Default Mug Rugs for Sandy Hook Kids

Having fun making Mug Rugs for the kids in Newtown, CT. This was my first time trying reverse applique and one was reverse applique using several colors. I just figured out on my own how to layer the colors. I also did my version of a Muppet I call Miss Muppet. The Superman Comic ones were easy and I made one reversible. The 4 hearts one was done just like a snowflake pattern would be made. Ooops, I haven't finished that one yet, but wanted to show what I've done so far! I just love the effect and will probably give it a ruffle edging by trimming the top layer back some.

I made handles for each one so it would be easy for the kids to carry and hang in their rooms to decorate with when not being used with milk and cookies.

    I've made 6 so far

What a lovely thing to do. It's true that the joy of a gift is in the giving,
Thanks for sharing your 'little' quilts AND the church's address.

Very nice thought, but yesterday on the news there was a request from Sandy Hook and from New Town to "PLEASE STOP sending things." Sounds like they just want to get on with their lives now and don't want anymore reminders of the tragedy the faced. Can't really blame them, can we? So, I think we should honor their request.

I was told to send them to the school principal since they will observe Valentine's Day. If they can't use them, they can go to the hospital or library . So send them if you want to, or do your own thing.

To reiterate, both the town and the families have requested no more gifts. They ask that if you feel the need to send something, send it to support an organization in your own area.

Everything in Newtown is now warehoused and is being distributed to organizations in other areas, near and far. They have 800 volunteers working to clear out the warehouse and figure it will take them another three months to finish up. Items addressed with family names are getting to them, but all general items will be redistributed to other places. Please honor their request. They are simply overwhelmed.
