Every year the Nixa High School has a Dare to Care Day in which the students choose a project to volunteer in the community. The students are given a choice, they sign up for whatever service they want. Mrs. Riann Lubinski sponsored a Project Linus Make A Blanket Day with the blankets going to St. John's Pediatric Hospital NICU.

The students started at 8:30a and finished at 10:30a. The amount of blankets they made were 104!!! Outstanding.

When I quizzed the kids about their choice of projects, hands down, they wanted to make blankets again next year.

I am so thankful and appreciative of the generosity Mrs. Lubinski, Nixa Art Department and the students donated for the NICU unit. Teaching volunteerism is truly commendable. I took pics of the event. Thanks for looking

Yes, the group was broken into smaller groups. One group cut the selvages off the fleece and cut the fleece into 30" sections, another group cut the corners out , another group cut the fringe and the last group made the small holes to pull the fleece thru. As each group completed their task, they helped with the fleece 'hemming', pulling the fleece thru the small holes. Very organized.
