This was my grandmothers singer. I don't know what year it was made or anything about it really.

I have the key to open it too. Can someone me identify it, I'm thinking 1926??

That's pretty! I actually bought one a few months ago, but when I received it, it was damaged in shipping so I returned it. I still want to get one, one day!

This is really helpful: http://www.singerco.com/support/serial_numbers.html

is there a way to see the serial number on it? It does look a lot like a Featherweight. If you go to the site that Crafty1 posted and if you can find the serial number on the bottom (that's where mine is) then you might be able to find out a bit more about it..

It's a beautiful machine Dawn..

I was looking at my list and the one that I got that looks like yours was a Singer 128 dated July 26, 1951.

Thanks crafty1, I found it! I's a 127-12 vibrating shuttle lock stitch model # E15423.

Issued in 1909 ( but I seriously don't think it is that old).

Yours looks exactly like my mom's machine. It also has a shuttle bobin like yours. My mom used hers until she passed away six years ago. It still runs like a top. Hers was issued from the elizabethtown plant in New Jersey in 1951.

I am going to do some special cleaning and replace the cord on it. I found a site to help me find some of the soft parts (belts and rubber for the bobin winder) and to guide me through the process. It is vintagesingers. A group from yahoo groups. If you are interested.

Look up NEEDLEBAR on google and you will find copies of manuals for lots of old machines, lots of pictures of machines too and lots of stories of the companies that made them. Singer has a site with all the serial numbers on it for their machines which identify when made, where, how many etc. I have not seen one quite like this before. Another site with lots of help for old treadles and also patterns for quilts to do on them and handy hints is Treadle On, in USA.
