While we were in Vancouver, I went to a shop called The Cloth Shop and found some great fabric for my grandson's quilt. His Mom wanted blues and greens and I wanted a pattern that would see him through his years. This quilt is from a pattern called 'Fivesies'. 5" squares with sashing! How easy could that be? A little tricky for lining up and there was a lot of sewing ( for me) and a lot of pressing. As I am fairly new to quilting, this was a good combination- amazing fabrics, and a simple pattern. As I do not have a long arm, I just stitched in the ditch- ho hum. But thank you for taking a boo at it.
BTW, the little guy is turning 4.

I absolutely LOVE quilts that use a black or really dark border and sashing! I have some fabric at home that I have been TRYING to figure out what to do with and this has INSPIRED me :-)

I think when I get home I might have to start ironing and cutting :-)

Catherine, That quilt is beautiful! I love the colors and that black sashing really sets them off. I think you made a great choice in fabric and pattern. Simple but outstanding! I haven't thought of doing one with the black, but I may try . I just don't think I'm up to little work anymore, as much as I would like trying. Carol

It's gorgeous! The black sashing really makes the colors pop. That is a quilt that will be timeless. I'll be putting this quilt on my to make list. :-)
