One of my favorite tools
Ok hope this works. Anyway this is one of my favorite tools to use for curves and circles. It's a school kit with a compass to help make a rounded Dresden or any rounded edge. It comes with a protractor that can make a 12" circle. Pencil sharpener and eraser. I use this kit often. You can get them anywhere school supplies or office supplies are used. They range in price mine was around $4-5.99. Works for me.

YUP! I use a ruler, compass and protractor a lot! Mostly for drafting out quilting designs. The protractor is invaluable for getting spacing even when quilting circular areas. The compass I couldn't live without for making circle templates in any size I might need down to the 1/4".

Good idea! I'd like to see how you round off the Dresden. Better yet, I'd like to watch you sew those curves! I haven't dared try any yet, although I used to set in sleeves occasionally. Dresden Plate is on my bucket list to do someday!

Just want to say there is a new (to me) book out..."Rob Pete & Friends" published in 2012 by Quiltsmart and it shows how to make curves with NO curved piecing...it is amazing! I use my old protractor from high school (Still have it and I graduated in 1959) too.
