This is a quilt top that belongs to my mother but will go to me when she passes... it is one my great grandmother pieced... I think it is about 50 years old or older. It is done in red, pink, and yellow. I love this top and hopefully will one day quilt it. I have seen the design before but cannot think of the name of the block at the moment... if you know then please share with us all!!! Thanks for looking.

This is the entire quilt

What a great quilt! If you had not said that it was old, I would have thought it was a modern quilt. The colors are very "today". I don't know the name of the block either and I'm not sure if I've ever seen one just like it. Hope you will finish the quilt one day and enjoy it! It's a wonderful heirloom.

PS - too bad Mom won't let you finish it now so she could enjoy it on her bed for a while....

This is truly a piece of workmanship. There are so many set-in corners, which makes it spectacular. Was it all hand sewn?

(I've noticed that there are not many modern quilts made with set-in corners anymore. It is easier to make hst or whatnot than to do this kind of tricky sewing. Makes this a true treasure!)
