Some time ago, I posted a picture of the portion of the stash I inherited from my MIL of the tulips she had cut out for an applique project. I didn't like how she had it pinned to a white 12" square block (picture 1), it seemed stiff and boring, so of course, I came to you guys for suggestions. I tried a bunch of things, and came up with a rough draft (picture 2). I went on line and downloaded a lot of pictures of tulips and leaves, and came up with something that I am pleased with (picture 3) I plan to have each block different, with different shaped flowers, different arrangement of leaves, about 4-5 different colored backgrounds. And of course, I will hand-applique and embroider embelishments on each block. How do you like my first block?

Nice. I would make each background to coordinate with each flower.

I very much like your layout. It really brings the flower to the forefront.

Nice work.
