What did she use for backing and batting to keep them from being too heavy and hot?

Those are very cute, and they will last forever! So nice and cheerful and bright!

Here in Wisconsin it's getting cold.... we love quilts that are heavy and hot.

No batting and a polyester backing and she tied them, with embroidery floss.... hiding the stitch on the top part and tying the knot on the backside

She amazed me doing all this embroidery work on all these quilts over I can't guess how many years....we have a few of them...the 11 she left for me to finish and I was so intimidated but also thrilled that she thought of me...but out of 4 DIL's I am the only one that quilts (one comes to me when she needs a button sewed on!) and it will take me forever but I intend on doing it! She went into a NH a couple months ago.... on my last visit I told her I had two of them pin basted and she didn't know what that was! LOL

So has anyone else made polyester quilts? Seems to me they would last forever. But I'd be afraid that the quilt police would get me if I tried!!!!
