Here are a couple of pictures from the quilt we are hand quilting. I posted pictures recently asking if anyone knew the name of the block. It's obviously a fan block reversed...it is very old and the owner purchased it at a yard sale. I love it.

So I named this the Fan Block Quilt

There is a photo of a quite similar quilt on page 72, Twentieth Century Quilts by Woodard and Greenstein, ca. 1930. That one is laid out the same way yours is, using one border, but the fans are in a striped fabric less colorful than your pretty quilt.

I'm sure there are others in many books of quilts of the period, and most are called "fans".

That is really a treasure! I'm glad you're hand quilting it, as would have been done when it was pieced. Just lovely.
