Here is a similar block to the block I used. You can substitute some of the squares for half-square triangle pairings.

After reading the post "Planned Scrappy Quilt Question" and reading your response, I had to come and take a look. You have created a truly beautiful quilt. Thank you for sharing. Sure does give me a lot of encouragement.
