Great pattern, and you're right, the scallop border really makes a difference.

It was actually surpisingly easy to do. I was afraid of messing it up, but once I got into it I found it was very easy. I think I'll be doing more of them. The main thing I found is that I have to go slower when stitching the binding on because I'm following a curve rather than simply straight stitching. Too, I cut my binding strips on the bias so that they would have some more stretch to them and follow the curve easier. And it really surprised me how much stretch there is in a bias edge! So I had to be careful not to pull on it but just let it flow along with the curve.
