This was acually my second quilt I ever made. The top was done over a year ago and Janice's and my other projects kind of pushed this one aside (it turned out to be my first UFO!). To make a long story short I decided to donate it to our church who has dedicated a wall to our service men and women serving in the military presently. Our youngest son Steve is presently in Iraq and his picture is on the Wall. Because of time, Janice and her Mom, Grace, helped finish it and the quilt was hung Wednesday night after the service. It has been decided that the quilt will be used to honor all military service men and women, past, present and future and they will be asked to sign the quilt. So far we have 2 signatures.

Very pretty and what a nice thing to do. I bookmarked this. My daughter's fiance is in the infantry. Right now he is in training but will deploy sometime around October. I've been looking for a patriotic pattern and this is just perfect.

I am the Janice in my DH's post. The pattern for this quilt in on Quilter's Cache, but I forget the name of the block. John started it over a year ago, so, you know, that memory thing....... LOL We were so blessed to be able to hang it at church and give it a real purpose. I can't wait to see it with signatures of veterans and actives all over it. Thanks for all your loving comments...it does mean a lot to us. Janice

Thank you so much for remembering the service men and women. We have a Grandson that is going back to Iraq in November, already spent time there. He is in the Stryker division. I too hope your Son returns safe and sound.

Beautiful quilt and a wonderful tribute to our troops.

Love the quilt and the whole wall. Remembering all our troops and civilians in harms way in Iraq and Afghanistan is something all Americans ought to do not just those with loved ones over there. Thank you for that lovely, moving tribute to them.
|
Oh I just love it! Where was this pattern when I was looking for a patriotic quilt pattern?
|
This is a great quilt. Visit the "Quilts of Valor" website (www.qov.org) for another way to give back to our wounded warriors and those in military service.
