1st FMQ & Harry Potter Paper Pieced Quilt finally finished
4 Attachment(s)
A few years ago I started paper-piecing, and designed my first block (Philosopher's Stone). Eventually, I decided to do a Harry Potter quilt of all original designs to represent the books. I'm thrilled to finally have finished it. It seemed like the endless project that was never going to done! But I'm really pleased with it now and happy to have a completed Harry quilt.
The Harry quilt is only my 3rd quilt that I've attempted FMQ on. The first one was the border on the Jane Stickle lap quilt. And my 2nd FMQ attempt was the 3D Pinwheel hearts and name (Emily) in the center. I think I did a bit better this time on the Harry quilt. I regular quilted around the castle and between the columns, then used FMQ to stitch in the ditch on all of the blocks and text, and then FMQ an echo around everything. I still haven't learned any stippling yet, but maybe on some easier quilts to come. Sorry the pictures are out of order, but couldn't figure out how to fix that. |
Your quilts are great, especially the Harry Potter quilt! You did a stupendous job on it!
I just looked at your patterns. They are very intricate, you could/should probably sell them!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: |

great job on all of them. I love the Harry Potter one.

Wow, all the work you put in on the Harry Potter quilt is just mind boggling. How wonderful of you to develop a website and share all your PP block patterns for it. Your vision is very true to the stories. I loved the HP series and was sad when the last book came out. JK Rowling really knows how to spin a good yarn and you really know how to design a great quilt. Thank you so much for sharing.

Oh my goodness! I can't even imagine what went into the HP quilt. My grandson would love it, and as much as I love him, I'm not going to offer to do one for him. Nor will I offer to pay you what that's worth. I hope you enter it in major quilt shows.

Your quilts are beautiful and your Harry PP blocks and quilt are spectacular! I hope you put it in competition somewhere!

What a work of love! I love it! I am sure you can market the Hogwarts quilt as a block of month to shops. At least package and sell as a booklet. Have you contacted any quilt book companies yet? Or self publish! Just a thought. Luann in CT

OMGoodness! Love the Harry Potter quilt-did you design any of the blocks yourself I know I've seen some of them on another website but not all of them. It is outstanding!!!!

Thanks to everyone for the nice compliments. Yes, I designed all of the Harry blocks from scratch using Quilt Assistant. Then I created the Castle layout in Electric Quilt. I've never entered a quilt into a show before, actually I've never been to a quilt show, and right now I'm just enjoying it on the bed. As far as the patterns go, they're all free to download at the site in my signature. I'll probably try and convert the patterns to PDFs eventually. Right right now I really need a break from tiny pieces. The blocks are all 5 inch squares, and the piece number per block varies from 30 something to over 100 pieces per block. I'm working on the Beach Cottages pattern I bought a while back right now. And I'll probably do some scrap quilts to clean up my stash, something quick and easy. I really get inspired seeing all the absolutely wonderful quilts on the board! I've been reading and taking lots of notes for new ideas.
