I went crawling through the local flea market this morning, looking for old quilts and found 3 that came home with me. I just like to collect them. :D All were hand quilted.

This first one is my favorite, and was the most expensive at $35. But I thought it was worth it.

This next one has a couple of blocks that have some material that is degraded, but overall still a very pretty quilt. It was $27.

And this last one is in poor condition (has holes all the way through it), but it was priced right at $5. :D I don't know if I'll try to repair it or what. But I couldn't leave it laying there at that price.

Nice! I think it was worth $35.

Do you have any new quilts in the works? How about the longarm - get it yet? Inquiring minds want to know! :)

What a great find. You could use parts of the $5 to repair other quilts of that vintage. Or make a tablerunner or smaller lap quilt from the good parts.

Nice work eddie.
I love the old qults you found. I know the hand quilted old quilts are irresistible. I love to look at thier work and the fabric are so neat. It sure speaks of a gentler time of life.

I inherited a few and gave them to other members of the family. I felt since I am the only one in the family who quilts, it would be wrong to hoard them to myself. My favorite was a very southern quilt that had a cheddar colored background that set tiny nine patches. Very scrappy and fun. I gave it to my favorite brother.

There were a few others I gave away, but, I kept a baskets one my mom gave me while she was alive. (I am not sure where she got it) And a hand quilted dresden plate with scalloped edges from a lady in north carolina mom bought while on vacation many years ago.

I love older quilts, I often wonder what the person was like that made them and also who cuddled under them. My mind just gets lost in history. What a great find.
