I made the template 1-1/2" on each corner with the / at the top. I like the way it turned out....should I use those borders???

yetta 11-28-2010 09:20 AM

it turned out great....the yellow makes it pop.

LindaR 11-28-2010 09:21 AM

the blue border...outer one is a lot prettier than it looks LOL...

amma 11-28-2010 09:25 AM

I love the top, and those borders will make it sing!! :D:D:D

deltadawn 11-28-2010 09:27 AM

So you made your own template? Tell me more.

Oh, and I like the contrast of the yellow border.

thimblebug6000 11-28-2010 09:29 AM

Love the top, but neither of those borders. I'd try to choose something that is close to one of the fabrics already in the top. JMHO

Heres a picture....I just kinda guessed at the measurements, I think it is a very forgiving pattern.

pojo 11-28-2010 09:49 AM

I like the yellow for the border.

barbsmith 11-28-2010 10:34 AM

I love this. I've got to buy this pattern. Maybe put it on my Christmas List.

Chilly Mac 11-28-2010 10:48 AM

Looks very nice. Love the colurs. What size blocks did you have to start with and what is the sidth of the border?

ncsewer 11-28-2010 11:04 AM

I like the yellow, but maybe shop around for a different blue for the wide border.

ann clare 11-28-2010 11:06 AM

Beautiful

happymrs 11-28-2010 11:08 AM

Looks great! I think the borders will too. You're right too, this is a very forgiving pattern, no need to be exact really, as these seams don't meet, & they all come out pinwheels, so that makes it even easier! I am working on my borders now, for my wreath design, can't wait to show it to you all! This is such a fun quilting idea!

You don't really need any pattern, just make your own template, check out the info on the tutorials around for this, & go for it!

mhunt1717 11-28-2010 11:19 AM

Love the yellow border!

quilt queen 2 11-28-2010 12:07 PM

Your experiment is wonderful I like the yellow border best. Thanks for sharing with us!

Pinkiris 11-28-2010 12:30 PM

I'm thinking that the yellow border is terrific, but I'd like to then see a bright blue outer, wider border.

The top looks beautiful. You did a good job. Anxious to hear what size squares you used to start with.

sueisallaboutquilts 11-28-2010 08:58 PM

That's a great twister!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love your fabric choices for borders too :)

earthwalker 11-28-2010 09:01 PM

Lovely...looks like a fun project...love the idea of a yellow border (I would use the other fabric too and then maybe bind in yellow). Thanks for sharing your pretty creation.

btiny36 11-28-2010 09:11 PM

What size squares did you start with...and did you just sew 4patches together then again and again???

JEM65 11-28-2010 09:14 PM

I really like your quilt top and I think the borders are just going to make this quilt! Thanks for sharing!

wanderingcreek 11-28-2010 11:07 PM

So pretty. I recently bought the twister ruler but haven't tried it yet. I think it will have to be moved up on my project list now and try one after Christmas.

I had no idea there was a book....someone on the board said it originally was the McCall mag in 1998...I've never seen a copy of the original but it sure caught on...

Thanks for the picture of the template. I was trying to figure out the angles. I hate spending all that money for something that seems so simple. Hmmmmm....something to play with in the kitchen this afternoon. (more Kitchen Stitchin'?)

btiny36 12-01-2010 07:03 AM

What size squares did you start out with...if I understand this correctly, one sews a bunch of squares together basically making a quilt top, then you recut with the template......

DJ 12-01-2010 07:07 AM

That seems like a very nice size. Good job!

Cyn 12-01-2010 07:08 AM

Oh yes, Use them. It will be awesome!

5" squares, 5 across and 5 down with 3" borders for the 3 1/2" template

Cuddly Quilter 12-01-2010 07:29 AM

I can see you have a lot of us hooked on your wonderful quilt. Cannot wait to see the outcome with the borders you have chosen.

BizzieLizzie 12-06-2010 09:22 AM

Really lovely!!

Connie in CO 12-06-2010 09:48 AM

Oooohhhh!!! That looks Gooooood!!! I made mine out of Moda's Miss Jump's Scrap Bag. When my daughter and son-in-law saw it they loved it. So guess what they're getting for Christmas? I have 52 charm squares left so I am going to put them together and see what I get. I think it will be a runner.

malega 12-06-2010 09:57 AM

Very beautiful and thanks for sharing.

RedGarnet222 12-06-2010 10:13 AM

I just called windy moon quilts and they have both the twister templet and one called twisted sisters for making the pinwheels. I had them put me one aside for tomorrows pick up. This should be fun.
