Another Goodwill rescue

1 Attachment(s)
I found this a couple weeks ago in a local Goodwill, and couldn't just leave him there. Only $3 for a quilt top is a nice deal in my book. All hand pieced! I think he will make a really nice picnic blanket after a few repairs, oh and batting and backing of course.

Wow, what a treasure!

Diane007 09-23-2012 05:28 AM

nice
this would be a great quilt for a man

lauriejo 09-23-2012 05:34 AM

A number of the fabrics look like they were cut from men's shirts. Reminds me of my dad. He almost always wears blue shirts.

Good for you for rescuing a fellow quilters hard work -- it will be a beautiful quilt when you're all done. I like the color combinations.....

Babs194068 09-23-2012 06:20 AM

Great find. It will make a great quilt for picnics.

BrendaK 09-23-2012 06:23 AM

First Laurie gotta tell ya i'm a Bilbo baggins super fan too! lol my favorite book in the whole wide world or is it the third world. lol I read it to my two oldest kids after I had already read it. That was 30 years ago. Wow! I think your quilt rescue will make a wonderful useful addition to your home or anyone,s home. It was a great find. Please show us when your finished with it. Thanks for sharing.

Good find, great price. It's interesting where our sewing projects can end up.

I saw a gorgeous quilt being used to protect a bookcase being hauled in the back of a rusty pickup truck once. I should have offered the kid $20 for it. He probably would have taken it since the bungee cords were already tearing through the quilt exposing the wood. ~:(

What a bargain Nice looking quilt!

DianneK 09-23-2012 03:32 PM

Don't you wonder how these wonderful quilts end up in thrift shops and yard sales? If only they could talk.

Peggy Jeanne 09-23-2012 08:20 PM

You found treasure. Imagine the number of hours in that quilt!

quiltsRfun 09-24-2012 08:37 AM

Great find. And I can see why you're referring to it as "he." It's definitely a very masculine quilt.

debs 09-24-2012 08:55 AM

lucky you! Its great!

FLQ 09-25-2012 05:25 AM

You're so right about a picnic blanket. The colors are very nice. I'm always drawn to plaids so I would have grabbed that one too.

Pieces2 09-25-2012 05:52 AM

Great rescue. :)

rj.neihart 09-25-2012 06:07 AM

Lovely - and sad someone felt the need to dispose of it - give it lots of love and let it know it's wanted...

$3.00 - what a bargain!! Prices on rescue missions and thrift shops going way up here up north where i live. Very striking quilt top..

redhotnana 09-25-2012 12:28 PM

Wonderful quilt top--don't you wonder who went to all that trouble and then never made the quilt? I hope that the maker will somehow know that it has found a new home where it is loved!

I know prices around here are much higher than they were just a couple years ago. Because this was considered bedding it was actually cheaper than if it had been priced as just fabric. Is that not ridiculous!

caspharm 09-25-2012 06:20 PM

Very nice.

MacThayer 09-25-2012 06:40 PM

I'd have snatched that up in a heartbeat as well! But then, I love going to Goodwill and the Salvation Army. You wouldn't believe the treasures I've found.

Nagi 09-25-2012 08:52 PM

Very nice and will serve a good purpose:thumbup:

kittiebug 09-25-2012 11:49 PM

Jammin' Jane 01-22-2013 01:59 PM

It's so nice that you "saved" it!
It looks like a wonderful quilt! :)

grammey1956 01-23-2013 05:08 AM

WOW nice find good luck'

wraez 01-23-2013 05:12 AM

Wow such a deal! Wish I could find such wonderful hidden treasures at Goodwill or thrift stores.

I really like that quilt top, and it will definitely be a great picnic blanket, or even to keep in the car for a chilly ride.

Your Goodwill is much less expensive than what we have here, the crazy prices they ask for 'junk', and good stuff is really pricey.

Blinkokr 01-23-2013 06:29 AM

Great find and thank you for sharing.
Have a Blessed day
Ellen
