I purchased this old quilt top in a 2nd hand store this winter in New England and I am interested in knowing the approximate date it was made. I believe it is from New England or England and it is made from mostly dress weight wool, all hand pieced. Also, if it is very old should I leave as is or finish making into a quilt. It is in excellent condition. Sorry for posting it sideways.

looks very old...I'll be watching to see what others say.

I'd leave it as is to preserve the historical value of it.

Whether or not to finish it into a quilt is entirely up to you. I personally think it helps preserve the quilt top to complete it into a quilt.

It looks early 20th century to me, maybe turn of the century. It's really lovely!

Beautiful quilt if you don't want to finish it you could fold it and frame in an enclosed shadow box with uv protected glass front.
