this is the first quilt that i have finished - from conception to binding! i have more tops and their bottoms, but i will wait to share them until they are complete.

only black and white and white and black fabrics were used. i didn't use anything that came off as gray, even though the photo shows some that do. the border is similar to a "piano key" design, but the "keys" are not even. i used scraps from the quilt for them.

even though i am very proud of my quilt, i realize that their are "issues". the biggest problem is that i need to improve my accuracy in not only cutting but sewing as well. hopefully that will come with time.

this quilt was long-armed machine quilted by lily lucier in eastern north carolina.

What a wonderful quilt. There are no quilt police on this board, so just sit back and enjoy quilting.

What a great quilt! I love the arrow design. It is a very complex design for a first quilt. I think you did a really good job.

i LIKE IT !

debcavan 08-06-2012 02:36 AM

It is stunning. I am very experienced with sewing but I still have a 1/8 inch thickness of masking tape marking my seam allowance to guide the edge of my patches. It really helps me. I don't have to pay a lot of attention and get good results.

My cutting issue is that I am shorter and not at a good angle to hold my ruler steady. So I put felt dots on the one side of the ruler I cut on. I put them every inch. No more slipping. I tried many things but the felt dots had the mega holding power that I needed.

I sure like the pattern. It is one to remember.

CGee 08-07-2012 05:02 AM

I really love this quilt! I really like a design that I can get lost in:) and this quilt kept directing me to someplace else in the pattern, fabulous! The piano key border was great, too. I struggle with finding the right border and using the leftovers was a great idea. Sorry, I did not notice your errors; I was too many admiring your design. thx

Delta 08-07-2012 05:23 AM
