The top is finished... The pattern is called Aussie from the Quiltmania no:60.
What do you think, shall I put only one layer of fleece on the back? |
Very Pretty top!! Can't say about the fleece, since I have never used it.
Very pretty. I would use a cotton/poly blend batting and quilt in the ditch around all the individual pieces. It'll make the 3D effect pop out even more. But however you quilt it, it'll still be a wonderful quilt. :D
Looks beautiful
Very pretty
I love the 3-D effect!!
The 3-D effect is really cool! You can put fleece if you want it to be really soft and snuggly, or use cotton, it's up to you. Great job!
Beautiful!!!!!! Love the 3-D effect! Love the colors too.
The blocks really pop off the background. Nice job!
Beautifully Done!!! :D :D :D
That's really a beaut!
Not sure about the fleece either. But I love the 3D effect on the quilt. Great job.
Love the quilt, I like the 3-D effect. Can't comment on fleece for backing. I would finish it like a regular quilt with the batting and a nice backing.
Very pretty! Love the colors.
Nice job!!!
That is beautiful. Love the pattern. I don't know about the fleece.
Heel mooie Maksi! (that may be wrong, Hans isn't here to ask! ) But I mean it's very beautiful! :D
I don't know about the fleece. Do you mean you want it extra fluffy? If so you could use a wool wadding (batting to the American ladies! :D ) |
Yes, warm, cosy and fluffy. I wonder if I get that with fleece. But maybe is flannel better and a thin batting inbetween?

That is just gorgeous!!

What a nice 3D effect! I love this quilt and you've done such a nice job with the design of it too. I think the fleece backing would depend on how you're going to use it. If you are going to use it for a super warm cover I would use fleece but if not I would use something ese. Depends on your climate. The temperatures are too mild for a fleece backing where I live on the coast of NC.
I think I'll go for fleece on the back. Because in the Netherlands it can be very cold when it is wintertime...and I really don't like that cold climate.
When spring come I am always very very happy. :D Yes I will do the quilting by hand. I will tell you a secret...I find it very difficult to do the quilting on the machine..even with a walking foot I get plies and rinkles allover.. And thanks you all for the nice compliment...it makes me smiling and also a little red.. :D |
I wouldn't put more than one layer of fleece,
due to the weight it adds, It is beautiful the way it is, I really like the 3-D effect. Its absoultely a beautiful piece of work! :-) |
That is beautiful. I haven't seen that pattern before. I love your choice of fabrics.
It's an awesome top! It should quilt beautifully whichever way you choose. Make more!
Great job!! I can't help you with the fleece question though.
i love it. great job. i put fleece on the back of all my quilts/blankets and no batting, but thats just me
Beautiful Quilt, I am a beginner and had never heard of Quilt Mania magazine. I looked it up and was delighted it is available in English. Thanks for broadening my world.
that quilt just blew me away the little touch of black realy makes all the other colors pop
Your quilt is beautiful. As to the fleece? Why not go ahead and use it Yo will have to use a larger needle if by machine. but a good fleece is pretty easy to work with and oh so warm and comfy. By hand, maybe a longer needle and a possibly a cotton/poly thread.
Good luck and please show us pics of finished product. |
Great quilt!
I love it.

I'm not claiming to be an expert. I hope you hear from others who have used fleece, too.
I have MACHINE quilted with fleece - but just quilts that will be used and washed a lot. I don't think the quilted, pieced side looks as good with fleece as it does with batting. Fleece stretches, so I baste it with spray-basting to prevent the stretching as much as possible. I start quilting from the center to the outside. Inevitably, it stretches a bit, but it goes off the edges where it can be trimmed, instead of toward the center where it would cause puckers or pleats. I think fleece may be harder to HAND quilt than batting. If I were you, I would test a sample before committing to hand quilting the whole quilt. I don't think fleece is a lot warmer than a quilt with batting, though it may be lighter weight. I use fleece because I don't have to fuss with 3 layers when I'm machine quilting  I use batting when I've put a LOT of work into the top and I want it to look its best after being quilted. |
I too am far from an expert...
I have used fleece for any quilts that will be used by children or as a sofa throw. Have not had any trouble machine quilting, but hand quilting I would think, would kill your hands. |
Just love it.
I like your quilt top, especially the 3-D illusion. Great work.
