My brother has a new grand baby. His first! His darn kid didn't even let him know until he ran into him at the bus stop and she's already 6 months old. Bad deal for grandpa. This crib quilt is for her. Just the top but I'm putting the alpha bet fabric on the back and having Linda quilt it.

Adorable quilt!!! Baby will be happy wrapped up snuggly in this one!!! :D :D :D I'm sorry his son treated him that way :(

Thanks everyone. It's the first time I've ever just used squares. Went together fast so I can get back to my wedding ring quilts.

Pretty! Sorry that the grandpa didn't know. So many unthinking people!

Very cute. Sorry they didn't include your brother. It's so sad.

Very sweet baby blanket. Hopefully your brother will get to spend time with grandbaby!

cute quilt for baby! Hopefully grandpa can be included, now? I don't care what the reason, don't make the little girl suffer for it. This quilt will help your brothers feelings too. Quilts are great for many reasons! :D

I think I'll send it to my brother and let him deliver it to them. They live pretty close to each other. I'm sure within walking distance. My brother has a 3 year old that is living with his grandma but my brother is going to get him pretty soon. His mother didn't want him at the first but now she is all for it. Some people in this world are different. His ex girlfriend took his other son and ran off to New Hampshire with him. He is probably 7-8 years old. That was sure hard on my brother. Wish he had the money to fight some of this stuff. Glad he had a great birthday though.

Nice quilt

conblond2005 04-29-2009 08:09 AM

Thanks everyone. It's not the greatest quilt I've ever made but it was quick. My daughter called and is sending me a ticket for my birthday to come visit her. I have seen her in a few years to so. Will be great to see her new house and her new boyfriend. She lives in Sunbury, Ohio. I'm leaving on the 13th of May and will be coming back the 23rd. I get to see my old friend for a couple days too while my daughter is at work. She works in Westerville, Ohio. Can't wait, just hope we don't fight. You know how mom's and daughters are..Too much alike..

What a fun looking quilt!
And, baby is now at a stage to really enjoy all the different fun pictures you put into it. And, the alphabet backing will take him right into school. I know your effort will be appreciated, and may go a long way to help your nephew understand family better.
Good job!

Oh it's a niece but thanks for the compliment. I don't know her middle name but her first name is Crickett. I like that name. It's sure different. Can't wait to get it back from the quilter.

Sorry about that ... I knew I should have gone back and checked, but I was so enjoying the quilt that I just had to type ... I like the name, too! I always wanted a really fancy name, so I gave my girls fancy names, and the boys real rich names .... no nicknames ... then, I grew up and found out: people REALLY like simple, old timey names ... they are easier to remember! go figure! LOL

conblond2005 05-03-2009 11:55 AM

Where did you get the name OMAK. That is in Washington State. I've been there before. I have an old classmate that lives there with her family. Panda Dunkle. Great girl!

omak 05-03-2009 05:46 PM

When our first grandchild was born, we were living in Omak. He named me Omakmama and hubby is Omakdaddy.
We have been gone from there for almost ten years, and he is STILL calling us omakmama and omakdaddy.
Through years of being online ... omak is just easier for everyone to type <g> ...
We lived in Omak for five years. It is a beautiful part of our state ... born and raised on the coast, I much prefer the wide open spaces of Eastern Washington.

I grew up in Post Falls most of my life but for a while I was in Spokane 4th grade - 8th grade and then moved back to Idaho. I agree, that is God's country but I do hate the winters. They were getting better I think until this last winter. Way too much snow for me.

Good night!
