I tried making a bib and I don't think I like it but I'll show the picture anyways. I don't know if this will fit around the babies neck or if I should sew on ties or just scrap it all together. Kinda feel discouraged.

No help with the fitting part but don't be discouraged. That is the cutest bib I have ever seen. I love it and so will baby's mom.

Maggie_Sue 10-18-2010 02:54 PM

From this perspective it looks good! Great fabric!

azwendyg 10-18-2010 02:55 PM

This bib is sooooo cute! If you're unsure about the fit, some ties would solve the problem for sure.

quilt addict 10-18-2010 02:57 PM

That is one of the cutest bibs i have ever seen. I am sure it will be fine.

wolfkitty 10-18-2010 02:59 PM

Very cute fabric! I saw your earlier post - both are lovely! The neck looks like it will be big enough. - a grandma

Don't laugh but I tried it around my neck and it fit me lol ok you can laugh  Would you put ties or maybe a little button and loop to hold it on? Velcro maybe sorry I'm new to this and not really sure.

littlehud 10-18-2010 03:20 PM

That is so cute. I hope it does fit.

lisainmo 10-18-2010 03:25 PM

That is adorable...I would just put a little velcro on it and you will be finished. Great job!

SuziC 10-18-2010 03:35 PM

Very cute Bib. Why not try some hook n loop tape on either side then there's no need for ties.

Very cute. Put velcro on it; it looks like it will fit. They don't do ties any more; strangulation hazard and all that.

This. And if it fits your neck, it'll DEFINITELY fit a baby's neck! lol Before I saw your reply about trying it on, I was going to ask you the "neck loop" measurements and was going to go measure one of my baby's bibs for you to see if it would work!

Bibs I use for my grandson have a generous strip of velcro.

I agree, this style has velcro on it.

NancyG 10-18-2010 04:40 PM

Very cute bib. Just add velcro for the closure and call it done. Mama and baby will be sooo happy.

np3 10-18-2010 04:43 PM

Use velcro, it is adorable!

your bib is very cute , maybe try a little Velcro.

mawcarol 10-19-2010 05:53 AM

Adorable bib. I think velcro would be great for its easy on and easy off.

Murphy 10-19-2010 07:20 AM

It's cute. A little tie will make it comfortable to wear.

ccb2200 10-19-2010 07:38 AM

You did a great job. Love the Bear.

Very cute.

Velcro would work I think. By the way did you use a pattern or just make it up yourself? I have twin grandsons coming in March and was thinking about making some too.

I got two bibs in a piece of material and just cut them both out then traced around them to get the cotton in the middle and backing them just sewed them together. The name of the fabric I got this from I believe is Beary Berry Patch. I put a link for it at the beginning of this post.

Tweety2911 10-20-2010 11:33 AM

That is adorable!!! It looks like it will fit fine, just add an extension, this way it will grow with the baby  Lucky Baby!

I'd use velcro (called hook and loop generically) and get the kind labeled "soft". Much less scratchy and easier to sew. Buy it by the yard, not prepackaged, for better value if you will be making more bibs. Then you can use a longer strip to make the size more adjustable.
