Your quilts are so nice! Love the color choices too! Is the biscuit quilt hard to do? I had picked up that pattern years ago and have yet to attempt it. DeeDee |

Both quilts are wonderful

where do you find a pattern for the biscuit quilt? and why is it called biscuit quilt?
they're both very pretty. |
I found a tute on it here: http://entertainment.webshots.com/album/563901445otyQma
Is this how you did yours? I've got to tell you when I saw it I thought - that sucker is so wrinkled & the squares are all wonky! - then I thought well, maybe that's why it's called a biscuit quilt. DUH! |
OK I got the pattern for 4.99 at my LQS. THis tute you have is WAY more work than what I did. I bought charm packs....and added a few more yards of other to just have some extra squares.....I didn't use any pins or anything to make my folds.....I put two squares rst and then I sewed about 1/2 and inch down the seam...then put a little fold about 2.5 inches down, in them and sewed over it. making the little poof. YOu shouldn't go less than 3 inches or over 5 inches when making a biscuit quilt otherwise you will lose your puff.
|
I think I should probably mention...the key to a biscuit quilt is that no two people are going to make the same pinch or fold in fabric...so two people couldn't make the same quilt.....No unless you measured everything out and made it NO fun!
I didn't have any problem getting my seems to line up or anything! |
NO it is extremely easy..I did this lap quilt in an evening...quilted and binded it yesterday...so old fashioned looking and pretty...we all think it looks so cozy...my kids love it!
The biscuit one really took me. It does look very cozy/cuddly! I like the softness, both in the color and the pattern! Great job! Looks as if I may have to dig this pattern back out and try it soon, so that I can have another wip! LOL Thank you for sharing Charismah! DeeDee  |
They are both awesome :D:D:D

I have made 3 baby and 6 full - queen size biscuit quilts and I made them much different than your method. I have a thin book with several patterns for different projects. All but, one were in the irish chain pattern. I cut a 4" square for the bottom and a 3" piece for the top piece. You sew to center and put a tuck so ends will be even, do this on three sides, put about a golf ball size piece of polyester fiberfil - used to make stuffed animals - Then you sew 4th seam like the other three. When all are done you sew all the biscuits together into rows and then all the rolls together. All seams are 1/4" and don't use too much fiberfil or it will be hard to sew all the seams. They are really pretty and look like biscuits. All will pretty much look the same and stay poofed up. Quilt is tied instead of quilted, back is sewed on like a pillowcasee with piping around the edges.

Awesome quilts...I was intrigued by the biscuit quilt, then realised here we call 'em puff quilts (I'm not too switched on sometimes!). My babies loved them..and they last quite well.
|
You make great quilts! The biscuit definitely goes off the chart for cuddle factor. And the other - wowee I love the brightness and fun look.
|
Both of your quilts are so nice!! :D I love the bright color's of the first one, then the lovely soft color's of your Biscut Quilt.
