This is a maple leaf I am setting aside for a while. I intended it to be a big queen, but blocks are creeping towards 29" each without sashing. I think I will have to reduce inner sashing, which I can do without ripping. I have some nice leafy copper fabric for bordering. For now, I will set aside til I have thought long and hard and the summer heat is gone

someday they will get done

What beautiful blocks. Looks like a lot of work to me, never having done that pattern before. Will be a beauty on your bed. :)

i wouldn't change the planned sashing sizes. think how much nicer it will look when it drapes over the bed in the bigger size.

A queen is 60 inches across. I can see if you are going 3 wide where the center of the outer two blocks should line up on the edges of the bed. Stunning display for those pointy motifs hanging over the edge. I would keep the sashing small, just enough to give you that bit of separation (and eliminate hair raising point matching issues) and let the natural design delight your bedroom decorating scheme.

Yes, I think like this as I am planning out a quilt.

What gorgeous blocks, all those yummy rich autumn shades.

I love it! Autumn and the colors are my favorite!

To downsize the blocks, i would take the sashing out from between the blocks and sew the 4 leafs together and make one solid block.
I love that pattern and you have done a good job.
