blue bandana and leopard print-WOW

Hi to all, It has been so long since I posted anything, but I have been busy. The other day, I ran across some blue bandanas, about 20 inches square, and decided that I must do something with them. I had just gotten the Anita's Arrowhead pattern, and after doing a practice block, decided that I could get 4 blocks from 1 bandana, so I paired it with some leopard print, because this will be a man's quilt, and here is a single block and then 4 blocks lain together.

This next picture is 4 blocks together. Yup, it is bold, but manly.

Now, to find time to work on this one, in addition to the other 5, I am also working on. This is such a fun and easy pattern, I will probably use it more than once.

I never thought to post a picture of a bandana, for those who would not know what I was talking about, so here it is.

I was able to get 4 squares from one bandana, and I think that I have about 8 of them, so will end up with a 5x6 block, which square at 9 inches. I will do some borders to finish it, I think.

lallyann 02-23-2013 12:46 PM

wow! This is going to turn out so cool!

Looking good; be sure to share the finished quilt with us!

spartan quilter 02-23-2013 09:14 PM

Yes, the pattern is free. Just google Anita's arrowhead, and on the website, and I am not good at copy/paste or I would have done that, but there is a pdf file which you can print out. Very good directions, and quick to sew up. Good luck.

That's going to really make a gorgeous quilt. Be sure and put the finished photo of it on here.

dhanke 02-23-2013 11:35 PM

Very sharp looking. I would not have thought to pair bandannas with the animal print, but they look fantastic together. I made that pattern a couple of years ago with vintage christmas prints. You are so right, it is really a fun block to make!

bjrusty 02-24-2013 04:26 AM

That is truly awesome! I think you're onto something here. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Sierra 02-24-2013 09:33 AM

Warning for anyone who might want to do one of these also! I'm not sure where you go to get REAL bandanas (maybe to a "western" shop?) but there are bandanas and bandanas. One is of sturday fabric (I still have and use some of my Dad's... he was a rancher) but most of what you get are souvenires or "copies" and of much lighter weight and smaller. Just be careful!

Spartan, your quilt is absolutely wonderful. If I can find the bandanas I may be one of your copiers!!!! Oh! I just saw the ad for bandanas for 39 cents back at the beginning of this thread.... they are surely what I'm am talking about!!!!

bdship 02-24-2013 10:13 AM

You really have an eye for design. Never in a million years would I think of combining leopard and bandanas, but it sure works! Outstanding!
