This is the only quilt I have ever given away. (I have to finish some before I can give them! :)) But I was very happy to do it for her. This was made and given to her at the beginning of last summer. A friend of mine found out she had Breast Cancer, luckily they caught it early enough that she had no chemo, but sadly she did have to have a mastectomy. I made her this quilt as a symbol of hope for her. I did a wonky star in a wonky star with BC fabric in the middle of the smaller star. Then just a strip of the fabrics I used down the back. I have to admit it was hard to part with as I would love a pink quilt of my own, but it was made with lots of love just for her and I hope she enjoys it. I just tied the blocks because I don't have a good foot for quilting on a machine, I should have brought it to a long-arm, but I didn't really know about them at the time.

Fantastic quilt for your DF and she will treasure it. Unlike most of us quilters we give most of our work away, but this was the first for you and it couldn't be for any better reason. You're a VERY special friend.

I made one for a friend too. I had a little help from a friend with an embroidery machine (as I don't have one). I had everyone from the staff sign the back too. My friend went into the hospital the following week for her surgery and is presently in Chemo therapy. I know she appreciated it - she brought it with her to the hospital and to every Chemo session.
