I got this quilt at a yard sale and I would like to make this pattern for a friend who loves his scottie dog, Teake. Can anyone help me figure out how to do the pattern? I think this is really cute. Gwyn

Hi Gwen,

There is a way to take the pattern right off the quilt. You would press one of the blocks so that it is as straight as you can get it. Then use a piece of tracing paper to mark all of the seams lightly. Take that to your desk and neaten it up onto graph paper.

Once you have that label the pieces either by using 1 through whatever or alphabetical. This keeps all the pieces straight and makes sure you know the top side of the templet. You can also add what color it is to be to each templet piece.

. Take a copy of the finished block for reference. Then cut it apart. You then use this pattern to cut the fabric out ADDING A QUARTER INCH to the pieces as you go. Or, you can transfer the blocks onto the graph paper again and add the quarter inch for a complete templet.

If you have access to a scanner, scan it or copy it & print it. Then use this as your pattern. I have done this a lot when I only have a picture. You can even enlarge it on your computer

Good luck :-)

Thanks so much for that web site...they have American Doll ....doll quilts and I've been wanting to make those for my 2 little granddaughters.

So now I can have an authentic pattern that atches their dolls.

I just finished a Victory Quilts quilt from Elenor Burns and your garage sale find looks like the Fallah block in her quilt.
Pretty amazing to me that you would have someone making that quilt and selling it so quickly!
********* I am repeating someone, I see ... I didn't read all the postings, so I will stop right now, and say ... sorry for repeating what Miss Butterflywing said ... she did a lot of research to help you. Your purchase was quite a gift <g> cool!
