Here is my attempt at Candlequilter's star. I can tell I need a lot more practice! I deleted the attachment because it didn't come up right. I will attempt it again. Sorry

Perfect points. Love your work.

Thanks for your kind words. I wish it looked as good in person as it does in the picture. Oh, well. Practice, practice, and practice some more!

CompulsiveQuilter 05-30-2011 05:10 PM

That is totally awesome! But did I miss something - did Candlequilter post a tutorial? If so, that's next on my list because I absolutely love it! Love the patriots without going over the top with them. Excellent! Please let me know where I can find a tute on this block, guys

jillnjo 05-30-2011 05:12 PM

Good job-looks perfect.

isnthatodd 05-30-2011 05:13 PM

It's not a tute. Go look at her list of topics and you'll see it, along with some more info.

watson's mom 05-30-2011 05:55 PM

Very nice, I would like to try this block. Just have to work up the nerve. LOL

Susie's is very dramatic. I'm excited to see the whole quilt put together. Have you gotten any in the pastels or fall colors yet?

So far I have only received one and it is a pastel summery color. No fall colors that I know of yet.

Thanks,
Sherryl

Sherryl, I sent a picture of the star to my sister, who immediately emailed back and asked if I could make her a quilt with that star in the center! I am going to make it 24", and surround it with squares of various sizes. It will be made of flannel in blues and browns and greens, which we have already been collecting. Thanks so much for the inspiration. It is just what she needs to help her thru some tough times ahead.

hperttula123 05-31-2011 05:32 PM

It is beautiful!

That is so sweet. I hope that you post pictures after you get it made. I would love to see them and I really hope that it brings her the care, love and meaning that will help her.

Thanks for sharing,

Thank you Sherryl for your help in posting this picture for me. I love the pattern and I do thank you for all of your patience and emails to help me out. I hope the other frustrated ladies will give it another try. It is satisfying when you get it finished. Thank you for the challenge and willingness to teach all of us to think outside the box! I hope you get lots of blocks!
Susan

Thanks for doing this Sherryl...I have one more question if you dont mind.... what happens to those tails that seem to be longer than the rest

Lightening1957 06-01-2011 05:36 PM

Beautiful colors and pattern.

Cosy 06-01-2011 05:37 PM

great work. Need to work on my points before tackling this one.

Ada Shiela 06-07-2011 01:09 PM

Hello Cathie; I haven't been on the Board for a long time but notice your star, it is beautiful. I've not read all the history relating to this topic but notice in Maggie Malone 1001 Patchwork Designs 1982 Pattern No.862 page 175 that this star seems to have been adapted from Tennessee Star.

I read a few pages in the topic but not had time to go back to the beginning - are there other stars in this particular quilt ?

newbee3 06-08-2011 02:54 PM

wondering if you could send me the pattern for that block. I do not have word. maybe you could send me a paper pattern if so please pm me

isnthatodd 06-10-2011 10:51 AM

If you search candlequilter, or PM her, she can give you all the details.

snicker dee 06-10-2011 08:50 PM

OOOOHHH!! Very Nice !!!

SassySewer53 07-12-2011 05:19 PM

It looks beautiful!! I think the challenge is in piecing the sections and making the intersections right for sharp points. Yours is beautifully done!
