sparkys_mom 08-07-2011 04:33 AM

Wow, if that's what you are starting with I can't wait to see the encore! Nice job.

thelondonzoo 08-07-2011 04:37 AM

Wow, impressive!

LoriEl 08-07-2011 04:37 AM

 Great job. That will be beautiful. I started making cathedral windows by hand, had to switch to machine and still only made a big pillow!

Kitsapquilter 08-07-2011 04:47 AM

I think for a first quilt you are doing a fantastic job. It is going to be beautiful. Please show it when you have it finished!!!

mtspools 08-07-2011 04:52 AM

wow its gorgous,i have been quilting for sometime (no pro by any means) but still won't attempt that pattern. you are brave!!

debcavan 08-07-2011 04:55 AM

I think it is a very ambitious project for a first quilt. While it is beautiful, usually a baby quilt is a good project so that you don't associate quilting with taking such a long time

luvstitches 08-07-2011 04:56 AM

WOW!!!! That is going to be a show stopper!
Great job!

Krystyna 08-07-2011 04:59 AM

great aunt jacqui 08-07-2011 06:36 AM

great quilt. Of all the quilts I have made, this was the first and hardest. My 75 yearold uncle taught me. I did it in pieces, all the background, then joining 4 squares at a time, and on and on and on.
Keep up the good work, It will be your greatest effort....

dunster 08-07-2011 06:42 AM

Beautiful colors, and like others have said an ambitious first project. This is also on my bucket list.

I am putting a Cathaderal quilt for my granddaughter. I have been using random colors but after I bought several patterns, I felt I needed a few more. I went digging in my stash and found some special material that I had use mading clothes for her daddy when he was a baby. So now the quilt has special memories sewed in. I am not as far along as you. I am working in sections so I can carry it with me on all trips in the car so I get lots done on the road. will have pictures at sometime. I do not find it a hard pattern to do, just time consuming but then again hand-quilting is time consuming. It will get done---one stitch at a time.

Cathedral windows...Wow that a tough one to start with, I'm still too intimidated to give it a try. Keep at and show us the finished product.

Kathy-Pgh 08-07-2011 08:58 AM

excellent job--on my "roundtuit" list.

Rntraveler 08-07-2011 09:33 AM

I agree and it is very pretty... love the colors showing through and think, what a lot of work! I don't think I have what it takes to do that.. is it lot's of hand work?

pdcakm 08-07-2011 09:45 AM

beautiful. so glad to see this pattern coming back into popularity. nice work.

buddy'smom 08-07-2011 09:55 AM

Very pretty, I haven't worked on mine in so long, maybe someday soon.

gabeway 08-07-2011 09:57 AM

Great job. We did a king size that only took 20 years! Know you will be much faster! They do get heavy though.

rainbowzebra 08-07-2011 10:34 AM

some of us are just crazy I guess, Cathedral window was how I started too. It is still not done, lots of projects in-between but get it out when I feel like hand sewing. Yours is beautiful. Lots of memories in mine as every time I use cotton fabric for another project I cut a window for the quilt. Some day it will be on the bed. Kind of glad I'm not the only one taking so long to complete it.

fayzer 08-07-2011 10:51 AM

that was my first quilt too. King size, all hand sewn.....every inch of it. It took me three years to finish it. That is why it has taken me 26 years to start thinking of making quilts again. LOL

quiltstodo 08-07-2011 11:28 AM

Great job. Love this pattern it's great to work on when traveling or just watching tv.

Ditter43 08-07-2011 11:33 AM

GGinMcKinney 08-07-2011 01:16 PM

Great job! Lots of work, I know I have one in progress. I work on mine 3 months of the year and then put it away for awhile. I am hand stitching mine. Is that what you are doing/
Will be beautiful. Stick with it and soon it will be ready to display.
