Has anyone made a chenille embellished quilt? On our trip to Washington state we stopped off in Roseburg, Or and I saw one I want to try. I purchased a book Easy Chenille Applique by Cheryl Malkowski and hope to try it soon.

I haven't tried chenille applique. In fact, I have never even heard of it. That has been the case since I have started visiting here. I have learned a lot just by reading about and looking at what everyone here has done.

I did buy a book that has a chenille rug and chenille pillows, and I bought the cutter. I just haven't found a fabric that I thought would work well yet. Now I'm thinking Camo might be fun..

When you try it, give us a pic.

It has to take the back seat to a few WIP, but I can hardly wait to try it, because it opens up a whole new world in quilting. To be sure I will post

Here's one I made after watching a Simply Quilts show on how to do it.

WOW! Love it, was it hard to do and did you use a disolving thread in the bobbin?

That is beautiful. How stable is the chenille with laundering? I've been seeing it on some of the Fab Shop Hop stores, and it does sound like fun.

Janw- It wasn't hard at all. I used regular thread in the bobbin, I don't think the instructions I followed said anything about dissolving thread. The hardest part of making it was waiting for it to come back from the quilter to fluff up the chenille part. It does make a mess when you brush it out.

Moonpi- I had to wash it after I brushed it out and have only washed it a few times since but it seems to be ok. There are a few thin spots where I think I cut the chenille strip too thin, but other than that it is good.

Checked it out and looks like a good reference too, but it's different than the book I bought. I also found a websight that sells premade, but I wanted to do my own and see the color combos instead of a solid color.

I would love to see an "upclose" of your chenille.
