Christian's 10-minute block (NOT) quilt

4 Attachment(s)
Chrisrtian is turning 13 at the end of the month and is so much like a puppy trying to grow up. I tried to make his quilt as masculine as possible. The ten minute blocks took much longer than 10 minutes LOL. And though I am new to quilting, I have never un-sewed so much in my entire life. But I finally got it to where I am proud to give as a gift!!

This is one of my fav blocks to make. Just love what you did. Definately not a little boy quilt. Job well done. Now on to the next quilt! LOL

joyce j 06-17-2012 06:12 AM

That is great an I bet it is well loved . even if the squars took more than 10 mins. You have to relearn the ten min. square every time you make one, if your like me. That is excelent. Joyce j

Beautiful job!!!!!!!!!!!!

Helen S 06-17-2012 07:18 AM

It's great! I'm working on one of these right now, in blues and yellows. I think I'm going to QAYG, which will allow for much easier finishing, I think.

crafty pat 06-17-2012 07:18 AM

Bluelady 06-17-2012 08:42 AM

WOW! Very nice! I love the how the quilting mimics the blocks. He should love it!

quilter1943 06-17-2012 08:46 AM

It's a great quilt. Love the way you quilted. I have a 10 min block quilt next in my summer pile of quilting so I'll be sneaking a peak at this again before I start it. The colors are great together and it is masculine, perfect for a boy that age.

Homespun 06-17-2012 09:15 AM

That is beautiful!

gemladi 06-17-2012 09:18 AM

This is just a wonderful quilt, I may have to make one soon.
Thanks for the inspiration! Michelle in Omaha

fien777 06-17-2012 09:49 AM

this is so beautiful.
I love the colours, they're really masculin I think

BATIKQLTR 06-17-2012 10:01 AM

I have been experimenting with this pattern also. I've found that you can make the "bridge" piece larger than the 4 patch squares and have the "show piece" take up most of the room. I LOVE the way you outline quilted around the pieces. Definitely made them stand out. I will have to try that when I make it up again. Thanks for sharing your idea!!

SUZAG 06-17-2012 10:49 AM

That is a very beautiful quilt.

quiltingcurious 06-17-2012 12:44 PM

What a handsome quilt, love the shapes, colors and the handmade label, very creative. Your echoing around the circles is nice and the piano key border. This ought to appeal to a young man.

Grandma Peg 06-17-2012 12:48 PM

Your quilt is great and so is the quilting. He will love it. Also your label is very special.

I second that! This looks like it was made by somebody who has been quilting their whole life! It's beautiful! And manly (LOL!)! I've never tried this block but after seeing your fabulous quilt, I sure am tempted to give'er a try. I understand "10 minute block" is sorta like "quilt in a day" (in other words, not the length of time it'll take me to make it... LOL!) but the end result is worth whatever time it takes. Thanks for sharing this with us! I love it & know Christian will, too.

psailer 06-17-2012 08:17 PM

he will be so proud you did a great job....it may be easier the next time.. sorry it was so hard.. but you did do beautiful work

Drw52372 06-18-2012 03:46 AM

What a great looking quilt. I'm sure he will love it.

Sewhappytoquilt 06-18-2012 05:03 AM

That is the MOST gorgeous 10-minute block I have EVER seen (and I have even made one). It is your organization of colors and the coordinating diagonal rows that did it. Now I think I want to try another. Yours is so AWESOME , may I copy it?
