Christmas Dog and Christmas Ornaments
 

I have gone crazy with silhouettes. I think the dog with antlers is really cute and everyone in my family has dogs. The ornaments are quick and easy to make. I am going to send these out in place of Christmas cards.

great idea .. where did you get the pattern and how to do the silhouettes. i like the idea of this instead of cards.

Great idea

They are all very easy to make. First, the silhouettes all came from internet clip art and my 4 yr old GGSs coloring books. Just kept playing with the size on my printer, then traced the pattern on to the smooth side of fusible and then cut them out leaving about 1/4" outside the pattern. Ironed the fusible to the wrong side of a black blender fabric that I have and then cut them out as neatly as possible. Then chose my background color, ironed the silhouette onto the background, stitched around the silhouette with black thread, added the borders and, walla, done (except for the quilting, of course). The deer on the ornament was fused to the ornament first then to the background.

The ornaments were basically the same way. I drew the ornaments on printer paper, copied onto the fusible, ironed onto the ornament. These are finished on both sides, so you need two ornaments and two silhouettes for each one, there is one layer of very stiff interfacing (can't remember what it is called) between the front and back. I put matching silhouettes on the front and back, but you could do something different on each side. I just used a fine pilot point pen to write the date.

All are very cute. I like the dogs too.
