A friend of mine inherited his aunt's estate and among the trove of antiques was this bridal quilt. It is done in original turkey red (sythetic dyes which faded to pink began in 1860) so this oil based red dye didn't fade. The applique trapunto was all hand done and we measured the stitches on the hand quilting which was 12 stitches to the inch! My question is does anyone know of any quilt collectors? He wants to sell it....I'd love it, but I could never afford it.

Absolutely gorgeous!! The only thing I could suggest is have it appraised and maybe a museum would be interested in it.

This quilt is gorgeous and appears to be in mint condition. I googled Quilt Collectors and there are quite a few sites you may want to check out--quilt appraisers etc.

If you want that quilt, then tell him... he might let you have it for a small price if you are lucky !!! Then again he might give it to you....
