I have never heard of using comic book backing boards with fabric - take a peek at the picture below. You can buy these at your local comic book store or on Amazon or eBay. They are acid free and economical.
A pack of 100 run around $10.00 http://www.amazon.com/Ultrapro-Silve...1851687&sr=8-2 The fabric starts folded selvage to selvage then fold it in half to the selvage again. fold over the board and use straight pins to secure thought I would share :) |
I do the same thing W/O buying the boards...just wrap around my 6" wide ruler. Think Alaskasunshine has a great tute on this.

Wow. your fabrics look great. Thanks for sharing the link and your picture.
|
They look so neat and orderly, good work.
|
Great way to display your fabrics! You can really see them all by using the boards. Thanks for the tip.
|
It does make your fabrics so organized. Adding to my Amazon wish list. thanks.

That is a great idea...thanks!

Yup, this is how I've done mine and I love it! Some brands of boards are thicker than others, and watch the size if you are buying on the internet. I really like "BCW magazine Boards 8.5 x 11" 24 pt. board". I cut some of mine in half for pieces smaller than a yard.
Wish I had that much fabric, but I'm working on it. :o |
its alot cheaper than the plastic board I purchased and you don't have to take the time to cut it.
|
Very nice job!
