Completed Sashiko Embroidery and Applique Projects

I just recently learned to do Sashiko applique and embroidery and have fallen in love with it. Here are some of the projects I recently completed. I love the color and variety in designs I can achieve

I grew up on the coast of Central California, near Monterey. My sister lives in Tracy and my brother lives in San Jose. My gosh it's been at least 8 years since I was San Francisco. My favorite area on the coast is Half Moon Bay it's so pretty there. |

Now that you've learned sashiko, you can use this same stitch with a perle cotton thread or even a #10 crochet thread to handquilt a "big stitch" quilt. I use it all the time and often receive compliments on how neatly it adds to the quilt, especially when I use contrasting color thread and stencil quilting patterns. |

That is a cool idea. I use the perle cotton and and candlelite sparkly threads on the shashiko, so those could also work on hand quilting a quilt. |
