But, can't finish.

I'm practicing on them to become more proficient at satin stitching around curves. I'm not very good at it as you can see.

Some of the black lines are bias tape and some are not. Some of my poorer wide satin stich I can cover up with bias tape. But, the smaller lines I can't.

I have to outline every single line and every one of those splashes on the dolphins.

The dolphin panel is a paint by number kit I bought from a craft store. The polar bears are a pattern I got from one of the pattern CDs I purchased from Paned Expressions.

Part of the other reason I can't always work on them is because I have to use my mom's big and fancy embroidery machine and she doesn't always let me use it.

Nice Cordelia. Are they hard to do?

Cordelia 05-23-2008 12:12 PM

No, they're easy to do. But, if you have fine, small, intricate pieces that 1/4" bias tape can't be used, then you have to do extra fine, careful satin stitching with black thread. And, I'm not very good at it. You can see how poorly I've stitched some of the smaller things.

But, check out this page of beautiful patterns from the "Water Water Everywhere" CD of patterns from Paned Expressions. I'm going to go up there on Saturday and buy the CD!

I have my eye on that Old World pattern. I'd very much like to do that one.

Cordelia - Those are fantastic, I love them, here's a little tip for you which makes satin stitching easier....I used a self adhesive stabilizer on the whole back of my clematis wallhanging, which gives a much firmer surface so the satin stitch comes out much neater. Hope this helps next time for you!! :D

They are breathtaking, I especially like the polar bears, I would love to be so clever as to achieve something as beautiful. If you ever want to find a good home for them let me know, the bears would be at home in the cold chilly wind of the north east of England.
