I was having trouble hanging clothes up in my closet yesterday, so I decided it was time to thin out the wardrobe and donate some to the local Goodwill. While I was pulling out shirts, I checked the labels on each and the 100% cotton ones went into a separate pile to keep - for a project. :) Last night, I spent a couple of hours with a rotary cutter, slashing and hacking them like a mad butcher. Here's the stack I now have, solids on the left, prints on the right. I wonder what kind of manly looking quilt that I can make out of these now? :)

Nice! Have you read quiltville.com, Bonnie Hunter's use of shirts for quilts? It's a great site for lots of other info too.

I can see a blue, green and yellow quilt coming out of one stack alone. Also a nice scrappy soft color quilt.

Wow those are nice you can make a very manly quilt with those!!
|
That's a great idea! I checked the local thrift store one day for plaid flannel shirts and they had a ton. I never even thought of cotton! Time to clean my husbands closet out!
|
yeah, check out quiltville for sure.

I can't wait to see the quilt that you create, be sure to take pictures of the shirts before and after
