DH s log cabin
3 Attachment(s)
I started this quilt in november 2011 and i am now fixing to put the borders on there will be 5 borders in graduating widths from 2.5 to 6.5. picture one is the original planned quilt (to be a suprise for Christmas 11) then I got so tired of do it the way I was taught I got some one else to show me another way and have finished the inside. the border will be mitered ( I hope) I have my strips cut and ready to stitch together. this was all a first for me. After I missed the Christmas deadline I finished the squares and told him what I had in mind and told him if he wanted to do another design have at it. the second pic is the design he made. and the third one is of the borders I am using,

I've never seen a Log Cabin done quite like that. Very interesting!!! :)
I really, really, really love the quilt in the first pic!
Very different design, I like it.
What's the design?? Thanks!!!
that is unique...he will enjoy it.
It's going to be wonderful! I think I would save the red for the binding for that little pop of colour at the edge. It will be great when finished no matter what you decide to do.
Unique design, Love it

Love your quilt. You did an amazing job. I love that pattern, have never seen it before.
Great quilt. Thanks for sharing
Its coming out nice.. He will love it. Love your tool fabric. Where did you find it ?
The fabric is called Mr. Fix-it RJR fabrics Dan morris designer. the design is a Keith (DH) original and the final binding will be the same red as is the first strip of border. Thanks for the comments and the design in the first pic is from a book dated in 1992 called Traditional Quiltworks' 3rd annual Christmas Special .
I love the fabrics you chose.
Who knew narrow little strips could be sewn together to make so many interesting quilts? The first one really catches my eye.
I need to get that fabric for my DH. He was a building trades teacher before admin so he can do it all especially carpentry. Your husband's original design reminds me of wood grain patterns or marble. Great quilt!!! You did a good job!
Beautiful, I really like the red one. Log cabins are very work intensive. I am making one out of scraps, will be glad to get it done.
Well, he sure picked a unique pattern for the log cabin block! I like your border ideas and I'm sure he'll love the finished quilt. Be sure to share the completed project with us. Thanks for sharing.

O love the first picture! I have never seen a log cabin done like this~but there's alway's a first :)
he will love it! |
Your log cabin is most interesting made like that. Very attractive.
Interesting placement of the blocks. There are so many ways to arrange log cabins.
I love the design your DH came up with. And your border plan looks great. I'm sure he'll love the quilt.
Your husband could think outside the 'block' and design an original and unique top. I love it. (I love the Christmas pattern, too.)
So very different! Looks like abstract pics of Italy repeated :)
I don't know if anyone mentioned this to you but be sure to sew all of your borders together before you attach it to the quilt and then do the miter. Maybe you already know this.
Beautiful work!!!!
They look wonderful! Great job! :)
