this one just about killed me. not sure if i like it or not. i honestly think i unsewed as much as i sewed. i found a picture of an antique quilt on a web site and thought "how hard can that be"
|
Ooooooh! What wonderful colors!
Y'know, I'm lovin' this site! I am seeing so many things I never get a chance to see anywhere else. It's great! M |
It is terrific... I have not done a string quilt yet but yours makes me want one for myself
|
I love it! Scrappy strings and that bold black. The diamond shapes are very unique. I haven't seen that in string quilts. Very pretty! It reminds me of stained glass.
|
It's a beauty! My eyes just keep moving, trying to take it all in.
|
Beautiful! I also love that you found a quilt you liked and decided to do it!
(I think thinking that it couldn't be that hard is what gets some of us to try something.) |
It's Gorgeous!!! I love the way the black frames the diamonds and all those wonderful colors.... :) It's Eye Candy! :) :)
Great job! :) |
Wow....that is pretty cool the way that looks! Its like ripples of color on stained glass! Gorgeous....
I've made quite a few string quilts and never used sashing with the squares before.... but I have made them where the center strip is all the same color and it becomes the sashing, in fact I am working on a teal colored one now. |
if you decide you don't like it, you will be the only person on the planet who feels that way.
i think that's the most sophisticated treatment of strings i've ever seen. i absolutely love it! :P |
WOW.. That is DRAMATIC!!! I really like it.. GREAT WORK!!
|
Care to try a star http://www.geocities.com/quiltfrenzy_archives/stringpiecedstar.html
Makes we want to make another string quilt. That came out really well, looks very good |
I love the colors...and I think thats what's all about....creating new interesting things.....great..I am sure that by now you also love it... :D |
ruth, thanks for the link to the 60 inch star string quilt. after working with strings for 2 quilts in a row, that star made me have to sit down and put a cool cloth on my forehead. maybe later
|
Looks beautiful.
|
It wonderful!!! I think it turned out perfectly!!!
|
I think it is gorgeous :!: :!:

ruth, thanks for the link to the 60 inch star string quilt. after working with strings for 2 quilts in a row, that star made me have to sit down and put a cool cloth on my forehead. I am with the bunch--the 100%--who say it's stunning. The black really sets those blocks off. applause!!! |
Very striking. I love the way you put the squares on point. Scrappy quilts are the best!
|
Yikes! I bet you had a lot of bias edges to work with! Turned out beautiful!
|
yes, it is pretty much all bias. that is one reason i put the black outline. but i am handling it very gingerly til it is finished. the original was an antique i found on line and it was pretty crooked. but very interesting. i couldn't resist giving it a try.

Nanabirdmo,
Your quilt just makes my eyes dance. It's great. I've started a string quilt but have a long ways to go before I decide on a setting yet. This setting is great! Got to go book mark it. |

I agree with you. I don't think you like it. Being the friend that I am, I will help you out in your time of need. I will p-mail my address and you can send that awful thing to me. (Y'all think she will fall for it?) tim in san jose |
lol tim. if you promise to quilt it and send it back
|
I love the way the black frames the colorful diamonds. I'm currently making string quilt blocks and I might just have to try setting them together like your quilt.
