Do At Least Some Of You Draw Rough Sketch Ideas For Quilts?
2 Attachment(s)
For myself, it seems that I sometimes sketch out my ideas for sewing projects (including quilts) and sometimes I let the fabric's colors and/or it's printed images dictate the direction it should take. Best of all, I like to combine both methods and get the best of both worlds like the one I am working on right now below.
How about you? Here are the latest rough uncolored sketches using my own computer's drawing program for a work-in-progress 10 Minute Block quilt proposed Fall, 2012 completion date (too hot right now to sew). |
heck yes!!! especially when i'm trying to figure out the yardage!

I see a beautiful stained glass window in batiks! Go for it.
I think it would make a beautiful quilt.
No I'm a pattern queen
I always do and keep them in a book, adding information as I make the quilt just in case I ever want to make another one. Rarely do I use a pattern but use pictures I might see, sketch my own design and go from there.
I usually do sketch, and I use colored pencils too so I can see how my choices will look when it's done.
I always do some kind of layout so that I can get the math right. It also helps me layout colors as well.
I do. I carry a sketch book and colored pencils with me. =)
I have several pads of graph paper, which I use for sketching out ideas. I . . . ahem . . . sketch a lot more than I actually sew . . . . :o
